Kalmár Panzió

This place is one of Budapest’s hidden gems. You’re staying in an old mansion, that once belonged to one of Hungary’s noble families. The room looks just like a museum and everything is vintage. This place is more than an accommodation, being a genuine experience, especially for history lovers.

The property is really nice and unique and the host is a nice person. We liked the room and the story of it.

It was a short taxi ride from the airport. It was not so easy to locate as the booking informatoin did not fully explain that this was a home inside of some gated area so required to call the owner to open the gate. This was not explained so I had to figure it out when I arrived.

One sheet was too small to cover my body and the room was cold, so I wore my clothes and a coat to stay warm. There one one pillow and it was old and smelly and lumpy. Lots of noise from the heater banging and outside dogs. I only stayed for one and only needed to sleep, wake up, and leave. Unfortunately just for needing a good sleep, this place did not provide this basic expectation and I thought it was not a good value for that reason alone.

Location is perfect, Gellert bath is near. Room is spacious, there is cattle and fridge, pair of extra towels to use in the bath. Hot water 24/7

The room is in the basement, bumpy mattress, lumpy pillows. There was a problem with the heating during whole stay, no floor heating working, just one small mobile heater. Last day it wasn’t enough. Moldy smell in corridor from the room to the bathroom.

Property is located in a great downtown area of Buda, just north of the Gellért baths. Several large rooms in a mansion are available for hotel guests. Highly recommended for a stay.

Very nice property, only few min walking distance from main sightseeings. The host was very pleasant and helpful. Apartment was huge and clean, the bed was very comfortable, we had all types of tea and coffee in the room. Very happy with our choice.

Super unique, amazing location, tons of history.

No need to hide the fact that your husband is the taxi driver. The private shuttle was great but there is no need to be sneaky…

Spacious and the host took such great care to make sure I was comfortable.

We did not get the ground floor room we paid for but were given a room in the musty dank basement instead. Our host was quite rude to us as well.
