Farnham House

My friend and I stayed last night . We were greeted by Mimi, she was lovely and welcoming. The room was basic but ideal for what we wanted. The bed was comfortable and the place was clean and everything was hassle free.

Location to Cavan equestrian centre was good, the host was lovely and I feel bad writing this review but if we had another option to stay elsewhere we wouldn’t have stayed.

Very worn and dated made it feel unclean, broken floor boards and big dips/holes in the floor upstairs, sockets that didn’t work and a socket hanging off the wall over the bed, not the XL beds we had booked ( 2 rooms 3 adults 1 toddler) we had to sleep 3 in one room as the 2nd room was so unsafe, boiler in cupboard making loud noise the entire time, beds were okay comfort wise but you couldn’t get a decent sleep with so much noise from the boiler, the road, other guests. The head boards were also falling off. No private parking as stated we where shown the road or told try round the corner there probably won’t be space later (again I had a 2year old with me easy onsite parking are things I looked for when booking). I wouldn’t recommend especially not for 90euro per room per night I wish I booked and air bnb or even camped instead.

The host, Mimi, was friendly and helpful. Exact arrival time had not been communicated, but she came back from town to check me in when I arrived (phone number at doorbell). The location is a pleasant 15-minute walk from Cavan town centre. Use of a kitchen and living room with TV was welcome.

I don't usually book rooms with no TV or kettle in the room, but this was a last-minute booking. Check out at 10. Room was comfortable and clean but it definitely does look tired and needs updating and a bit of a makeover; for example, there's no need for a chest-of-drawers in a room for tourists (long-term stays, yes). There were no clothes hangers at all - I used the curtain rail. The room has no en-suite bathroom, but I had a private one just outside the room.

There was alot of noise from upstairs st 3 in morning

The host was so so lovely, the area is quiet very minimal road noise. Room was spotless and bed was very comfortable. Could not have asked for very much more.
