Cambrian House B & B

Just wonderful from start to finish! I have found my new regular haunt in mid-wales!

Breakfast was really great. Jacqui was worried when I only had fruit salad and yogurt one day and would have been happy to make me something else. She and Ivan were really friendly and helpful hosts. Very welcoming.

Powys is a beautiful county, but not necessarily set up for tourism, so I was doing a lot of driving to get to places of interest. This was partly due to the fact that we had friends who had lived in Powys for 10 years and so had visited the local towns before. We had originally booked a place in Pembrokeshire, but this was cancelled at the last minute due to Covid. Cambrian House was an excellent last minute change, just a shame it wasn’t in Pembrokeshire!

Superb visit. Excellent room, decor and high quality everything, from the coffee machine to the bathroom mirror! The breakfast was exceptional too.

Although the location was not as near to our destination as we would initially have preferred we thought the extra journey time well worth it to find such a welcoming and comfortable stop and will plan to stay there next time we are in Wales. Ivan, our host, contacted us before arrival to ask if we would like him to book us into a local pub or restaurant for dinner - very convenient for us and thoughtful on his part. On arrival we received a really warm welcome and were shown into absolutely spotless, spacious and very stylish accommodation with a sensational walk-in shower (and extremely comfortable beds). Breakfast was delicious - although our plans meant we did not try the generous cooked options the croissants and fruit salad were outstanding. There were plenty of interesting books, maps and leaflets about the local area. Ivan and Jacquie are natural hosts and made us feel like old friends. I am not usually gushing about accommodation but I do think Cambrian House is a quite outstanding B&B, and if I could give it more stars I would.

Because I am elderly and awaiting a hip replacement I should have liked a grab rail in the shower - not that the floor was slippy, just for reassurance. And the bedside reading lights were not really bright enough.

We were greeted on our arrival and welcomed like friends. Our room was fantastic. We thought we'd struck gold finding this B&B. Bedroom, superb, bathroom outstanding. Coffee machine in room, as well as kettle and choice of teas. Asked to order breakfast which makes so much sense, it means you get what you want. It was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Superb.

Nothing. Couldn't even suggest a small improvement. Oh, a soap dish available for the bath would be nice.

Location is perfect for Snowdonia and although on a busy main road we have not been disturbed by the traffic noise at all. The breakfast has been amazing, very tasty, plenty of choice, well cooked, fresh and plentiful. Ivan and Jacqui are wonderful hosts, we will definitely stay again.
