Excellent hosts.

For us the main issue is the remoteness and country lanes.

Where do I start. This was a last minute booking, late on a Saturday afternoon to accommodate an elderly relative who was in a quandary. Firstly, Kevin personally took my Uncle to the local pub as it was late in the day and he had no transport or means of payment and ensured he was fed. When we arrived Sunday to collect him, Sara was extremely welcoming, offering us tea and biscuits (it had been a 6 hour journey) - fully explained how they had looked after my Uncle, really appreciated. Thank you so much for everything....and the delicious strawberries.

The location was very remote, which I loved. The host was very welcoming. You can hear the animals and really feel in the middle of nowhere, in the best sense. The winding roads to the property were no problem to me, if anything they added to the pleasant feeling of being off the beaten track. There is a small village a 5 minute drive away with a nice pub, The Kings Arms, with very friendly people and good pub food. We didn't have breakfast as we were full of holiday type foods by the time we arrived, but I liked the options and would have gladly tried it. The house and the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. She also left some muffins which seemed to be home made in our room, which was lovely. All in all, considering the beautiful location, I thought it was very good value.

The only reason I can't give it a 10 is because there was a smell of damp in our downstairs room. The room was very clean and pleasant otherwise, and in dry weather it might not be so much of a factor, but as it was drizzling and misty during our stay, as it often will be in Cornwall, there was plenty of moisture around. My sheets felt slightly damp, the towels didn't dry, and there was a smell of damp generally in the room. We had to keep the window open, but my partner was cold. Perhaps this is life in a country home in a misty area, I'm not sure.

Rooms were fine. Clean and comfortable with good needs and nice bathroom.

The location is remote but we knew this to begin with. Following Google maps sends you along narrow winding roads but to be fair this is Cornwall. Alternative directions given to us by owner ok but equally not easy to follow not through fault of owner but because we arrived after dark.

Sara and Kevin provided a very warm welcome in their lovely home over our 4 night stay. They were very helpful in suggesting places for us to visit. The full English breakfasts were so good. We would not hesitate to stay with them again. Our stay with them was a real pleasure.

Sara sent excellent directions- it was really helpful to know the real way to get there rather than Google map's version! It also meant I could check it out beforehand. They send several lovely messages before we got there and were very friendly when we arrived. The room was beautiful and the outlook- onto their garden- was stunning. It was so very quiet in the lovely, remote location! I also loved the welcome pack- these died off during Covid, but I always find them very helpful! Sara gave us a brilliant recommendation for tea that night- Charlestown was simply gorgoeus. Our hosts were very knowledgable and friendly- if you need anything, you can just ask!

The stairs are particularly squeaky, so we did tend to hear people coming and going, but this is someone's house, so it's to be expected! One of the beds was quite squeaky too, but it didn't disturb my sleep!

Super quiet rural location. Spotting barn owls! Friendly hosts. Will come again.
