Very beautiful house and room, comfortable bed and very quiet area. The hosts were really kind and flexible about our arrival time and we're super grateful for that.

The shower head was broken, but fortunately the handheld one worked so it wasn't a big issue.

"Ideal springboard for Venice"

8.0

We arrived in off-season. The breakfast consisted of packaged foods, including corn flakes, milk, but no bread or fresh fruit. Unfortunately, the bakery next door didn't open until after we had left for Venice.

The B&B is next door to a lively restaurant. There was music and partying coming from next door late into the night. With ear plugs, we could manage. Also, all on-street parking spots were taken. We had to park about 200 meters away next to the village football field.

"Not bad, but lots of potential for improvement"

6.0

Noale is a very pretty and relaxing small town, ideal to chill out after a busy day at work. B&B La porta rossa is relatively close to the train station (10-15 minutes walk) where you can catch a train which takes you to Venice in 35 minutes (2 trains every hour). The B&B is a two-story detached house, the rooms are on the second floor and there's a small kitchen and a dining room on the ground floor. The kitchen is not very well equipped, but there's a fridge, a kettle and a microwave. The area around the house is very quiet, except for the wine bar next door, which has a sort of beer garden. The bedroom windows face right onto the beer garden, it was very noisy on both nights I stayed (midweek), but only until 11-11.30 PM. All in all my stay was ok, but there's a lot of space for improvement. I would choose it again only if I had no alternative.

Communication and reception of guests could definitely be improved. When I reserved, I informed the host (via Booking) of my arrival time and got a confirmation message from him. But when I arrived nobody was there, I waited 15 minutes and then called the number that was on my Booking reservation. An old woman (I guess the host's mother) answered the phone and told me that her husband would come in 10 minutes and open the door for me. When I pointed out that I had already waited 15 minutes despite I had informed the host of my arrival time, she told me that's not how it works and that I was supposed to call a few minutes before I arrived, as they live close to the B&B (it seems that the host who answers emails and messages via Booking does not communicate with the person who answers the phone and actually receives guests). Eventually, an old man arrived, opened the door, showed me to my room and gave me the keys. I asked about breakfast, he told me it was self service "just grab whatever you want from there" and pointed to a tray with some packaged biscuits and snacks, "there's also stuff in the fridge" (yogurt and fruit juice) and then left. It took me a while to work out how to use the espresso machine (in the morning) and the induction cooker in the kitchen (at night, I wanted to boil an egg) as there were no instructions. Eventually, I realised the stove wasn't working because the pot that was in the kitchen was not for induction cooktops. It's a shame because the place has a lot of potential but reception and hospitality in general are very shabby.

"We had a lovely time and loved the fact that we could stay in a town rather than a more busy area."

9.0

Beautiful house and garden. Extremely clean and well-maintained. It was a pleasure to meet the host and his wife. All the facilities were excellent. Range of foods for breakfast, with lovely coffee. Could leave our bottled water in the fridge in the kitchen to keep cold, which was a bonus in the lovely warm weather we had during our visit. Large supermarket within walking distance. Would definitely recommend this place.

Balcony upstairs could maybe have a few chairs for guests to sit outside. We had fantastic weather, and the balcony would have been lovely to use for a while in the evenings.
