Locus Amoenus

What a view! We set our alarm to get up to see the sunrise over Matera, we walked outside our apartment cave to the stone wall and watched a magnificent sunrise literally on our doorstep. There is a well equipped shared kitchen where we had our breakfast every morning, we were treated with croissants and fruit, juice, cafe made fresh and served every morning by our hostess Elisabetta. Our apartment was suffice to say unusual and unique, very comfortable and spacious. While were were only in two, it had an upstairs or mezzanine level with additional beds which we didn't require but spacious even so, point being we were not restricted by our numbers and Elisabetta catered to our needs. Located a very short walk from Palazzo Lanfranchi in Piazzetta Pascoli and from there you can walk to all main Vias (Streets) of Materia Centro Storico. Access to the main roads and parking if you drive from here as well. It was like being at the beginning of the Centro Storico, upper and lower areas and you just walked to where you wanted to go so easily.

Could have booked more time in Matera.

Posto stupendo in una città incantevole. Accogliente pulito spazioso consigliatissimo!!

Fabulous b&b in the heart of Matera. The original 8000 year old cave room was Super clean, comfortable and spacious. We were a couple but lots of room for a family too. A stunning view of the amazing stone church from the terrace. Breakfast was delicious with homemade ham, cakes and other treats. Very very lovely, helpful and friendly hostess.

Sehr schön gelegen mitten in der Altstadt aber sehr schnell erreichbar von der öffentlichen Parkgarage. Mit super Blick von eigener Terrasse.

Logement millénaire pittoresque très confortable situé au cœur des sassis à Matera. Bon petit déjeuner. Accueil très chaleureux.

An Aamazing place with a unique atmosphere steeped in history- truly and extraordinary experience, just like Matera itself. To be part of it and breathe in the spirit of history, even for one night was unforgettable. The spacious cave apartment offers plenty of comfort, a cozy bed, and breathtaking views of the ancient city. The host was very kind and welcoming, and prepared a delicious breakfast for us. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
