The property is in a very noisy location. In fact there is a restaurant just right under the property, meters away from the room's windows, and it gets very noisy at night. It is open until 2 am and its visitors get drunk after 10 pm and raise their voices, making it even more intolerable and impossible to sleep. There was also some dragging of heavy objects for a prolonged time between 12 am and 1 am, and also loud noises as if a firing brigade was firing with 200 Kalashnikovs at the same time. This lasted at least 30-40 minutes. Awful! To make things worse, the windows of the room and bathroom do not close properly, as they are extremely old (the building is a very, very old one and the building standard is very poor, as can be seen in the attached pictures), plus the windows have changed their shape over time, their metal fixtures are broken, and this does not allow them to be closed firmly, no matter what. I tried to use whatever was available to somehow prop them and get them to close at least a bit better, as the pictures show, but with very little success. The owners have done nothing to fix the broken and misshaped windows. As a result I could not sleep until at least 3 am on my first night. I left the property on the next day, as it was not fit for purpose. The area in which the place is located is very run down and rather dirty, some of the nearby streets and sections of the one where the property is located smell of urine, and there is uncollected rubbish here and there.

The location was perfect. Right in the middle of everything. Even though we had stayed in the center last time too, the surrounding was better here. The artwork adorning the lobby and rooms is fantastic. The breakfast consisted of real pastries (like pistachio croissants) and a lovely cappuccino. Leah, the hostess is a wealth of information and so friendly. She made our stay memorable. We would stay there again if we need to revisit Palermo. The restaurant downstairs has amazing food too.

Sometimes the noise filtered up on weekends from restaurant clients but nothing major for us.

The hosts were fantastic. Communication was excellent. They made arrangements for a transfer shuttle to the airport which worked out perfectly. The location was excellent...walking distance to everything.

Domus Dei bursts with Sicilian colours and artifacts!! It is an easy 8 minute walk from Palermo Train Station and is situated above ANICA a marvellous trattoria!!!

Nient
