Sleepy Sam -The Traveller’s Hostel

I had an amazing stay at Sleepy Sam Hostel in Gangtok. The hostel is exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and has a very cozy atmosphere. There is a kitchen area with kitchen appliances/utensils to help us cook/reheat food. The bunk beds are comfortable and come with privacy curtains, which is a big plus for backpackers. What truly makes this place special is the hospitality. Sam goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The common areas are great for meeting fellow travelers, and the overall vibe is warm and friendly. The hostel also has a kitchen with an induction and microwave for guests, which is very convenient. The location is excellent, with beautiful views and easy access to the city. A special mention for the breakfast—it was absolutely delicious and felt homemade with care and love. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, social, and welcoming hostel in Gangtok, Sleepy Sam is an easy recommendation. Pros: Clean rooms, privacy curtains, great host, amazing food, kitchen access, friendly atmosphere, excellent value for money. Would I stay again? Absolutely.

Pretty clean and cozy hostel, all the basic amenities are provided, awesome host, great view, breakfast is also included(Sam is really great chef) The host Sam is really awesome guy, he helped us with contacts in arranging the tours to North Sikkim and Nathula pass as well. We booked this place for a day but ended up staying there for 4 days while we were in Gangtok.

First the place is closer to MG market just 6/7min by cab. The cab stop is just outside the hostel. I stayed in 4 bunk bed room which might look compact but I was alone during my stay. Place is near and clean. Toilet is cleaned daily. However best part is Sam and his family.I liked hospitality showed by Sam.He will be there to help you anytime. He sees to it you have your breakfast daily.I will definitely recommend for solo budget travellers.

Since I was alone during my stay I had no issues but if there were others,room would feltcrowded.

My stay at Sleepy Sam Hostel was wonderful. The owner was super helpful, kind and funny. The best hostel in Gangtok an I recommend it 100 percent. Thank you for making me live beautiful moments, see you soon ❤️

Cleanliness and facilities in the kitchen

The interaction of the owner. He was mean and angry because I failed to close the shutter and gate. He was folding the comfort and managing my stuff without my permission. He was treating me like someone below him and giving orders.

The room and the facilities were top notch. I had a very pleasant stay during my trip to Sikkim. Sam has got everything covered.

Everything was excellent, the hospitality was just wow. The owner Mr Sam is very helpful and Polite, he guided me excellently. The rooms were very clean, bed was very comfortable. Bathroom were also clean. The location is very prime, MG road is near, Ropeway , Siliguri taxi stand is near by. Namgyal institute is also near by.

Great location next to share taxi stand to Siliguri via shortcut. Amazing views from the rooftop despite being within the city, not far from MG Marg. Very friendly host whom has thought of every detail. Everything is super clean, comfy and the shower water is hot with fan for circulation. There is a kitchen, dining table, kettle, toaster, utensils, plates, cups and everything. An iron and ironing board is available, like at home. Huge cupboard to secure storage and individual shoe compartment. Curtains on the dorm beds for extra privacy, charging sockets and light, cooling fans in the room. Complimentary breakfast. Communal area has a big TV with Netflix/Youtube etc.
