Gästhus Nornäs

The staff/host was wonderful, welcoming and caring. The arranging of canoeing was swift and easy and we enjoyed our time canoeing on the lake.

If you are looking for an active holiday in rural Sweden, gästhus Nornäs is the perfect choice. The hosts were very accommodating, even going so far as to offer a light dinner when I arrived after all the local restaurants had closed. For those more inclined to cook themselves, there is a large and well-equipped shared kitchen and dining area. While I only stayed for one night, the lake is right across the road and you can rent paddle-boards and canoes from Gästhus Nornäs, and they organize a wide range of activities both in summer and winter so you will never be bored, no matter how long your stay. The area is incredibly quiet and peaceful, making this a perfect getaway from busy life. The hosts spoke German, Swedish and English so we had no trouble communicating. My room was clean, spacious, well decorated, and offered a good view over the nearby lake. The bathroom was somewhat small, but quite functional, and it offered a lovely rain-shower which I particularly liked. The hosts had even written my name on a plaque by the door, and that kind of personal touch is simply unheard of elsewhere!

One should be aware that this area is very remote. There are few shops and restaurants in the area and they close early, so visitors are encouraged to make their own meal arrangements.

The apartment far exceeded our expectations. The little extra touches such as cot, high chair & toys made our 1 year old daughter feel instantly at home, we genuinely couldn't wished for a nicer place to stay, hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to others.
