Hout Bay View Boutique Hotel

Definitely the best view in Hout Bay. The room was spacious, clean and modern. We loved the big shower and the variety of streaming apps on the T.V. There was also an exceptional breakfast included in the room rate. We would visit again without a doubt.

this place is badly run. no one was around to answer any questions. load shedding meant no toilets or showers and only a torch for lights. there was no explanation of this from the rather confused man (owner? manager?) who greeted us and was never seen again. Stanley who organised breakfasts and seemed to do everything else was it’s only saving grace. odd place. shame, as the building is stunning.

On arrival we got greeted by someone who didnt even know what form we needed to fill in. Was very unprofessional and really not helpful.We then went out for dinner and couldn’t get back in as we were locked out of the property as they didn’t give us the key. Then there was no water(due to load shedding so they not prepared for it) so couldn’t even wash my hands or flush the toilet. When it came to breakfast , we went downstairs and nothing had been prepared for us. The man was on his way to collect the dog poo and then came back and assisted us. The breakfast was really disappointing to say the least. It was just a really disappointing stay and would really not recommend this place due to the poor service we received.

The View

The ‘reception/owner’ completely inflexible. We were coming from out of town to watch a particular show. The show was postponed and we asked if we could move/not cancel our dates. A pleasant absolutely NO WAY we can accommodate the request was forwarded onto us so we had to go to avoid losing our money. We then asked could we check in after work at 6pm, again absolutely not (in a very friendly fake response) although we noticed another couple checking in at 7pm. We asked for a later breakfast to be served and again no was our answer. Breakfast was served on our balcony not in the dinning area. Although spectacular views we had to sit on high chairs with a rather low table. Uncomfortable to say the least. No reception person when we left so we just left the keys on the desk. The brown bathroom towels also need replacing and the room coffee sachets could be upgraded to a coffee machine. Will not be visiting again. Ot was not a pleasant experience. Pity as it has loads of potential but lacking in personal touches and good service.
