Location was nice, good views. Good food at the local pub.

We had no proper welcome, Sue was out when we arrived and her husband showed us to our room. When we saw Sue later on, she just told my daughter to move our car because they had had 'trouble'. She did not elaborate on the trouble or ask if we had had a good journey. This upset my daughter as it was not a good welcome after our long journey. She finally asked us if we had come far on our last day! We tried to strike up conversation about her two dogs as we have the same breed but Sue did not want to engage. No wardrobe in room. Couldn't hang any clothes up. Pictures on wall behind beds had what looked like a century of dirt behind frames. Overpowering smell in the room of aftershave that affected me as I have asthma. It took a day to clear the smell by keeping windows open. Custard creams left with teamaking items were out of date, as were some of the condiments in breakfast room. Very bad flying ant infestation near the doors to the garden chairs. The atmosphere inside was very old fashioned and drab, I am not a fan of brown furniture, I like my environment to be nice and bright. Just to add, we could not pay with credit card, there was a typed note in the room that said payment is Cash or BACS only.

Very welcoming and comfortable. Sue made us tea and cake on arrival which was much appreciated. Peaceful location, very comfortable bed and superb breakfast.

Warm welcome. Excellent parking. The location. High quality food and friendly atmosphere at breakfasts. The comfort of the rooms. Proximity to local pub serving good evening meals
