It was an amazing stay. Breakfast was plentiful and there are instructions on how to prepare it. Lodge was beautiful, comfortable and peaceful. Plus, it was close to all the tulip fields - which was a bonus for me! Amazing hostess - thanks Annemiek! 🙂

The view of the castle was amazing! The room was super clean and we really enjoyed the breakfast as well. The hosts communicated very clearly with us.

"A little waterside haven of tranquility."

A beautiful setting in an affluent, serene area of Sassenheim. We had the Loft apartment at the side of the house, opposite an ancient ruined castle, overlooking a quiet waterway. Cosy, romantic and cottage-like. A private (if teeny) sauna & toilet on entering the front door. At the top a little kitchenette with French doors onto a small sun terrace over the canal. Room to lay outside on loungers when sunny, or just sit and relax. Very private, quiet and calm. A large bed squeezed into a space opposite a basin & shower. Cosy, quiet & comfortable, with Netflix freely available. Annemiek, the owner, was just lovely. We hired the (top quality) e-bikes for 2 days which were excellent, well worth paying 3x the cost of ‘City bikes’ and made hilly coastal dune cycling against gale winds a piece of cake. The bikes virtually rode themselves!

Loo downstairs and no basin there, (instead of being with the basin & shower up in the Loft space). Impractical, esp. at night, bearing in mind the ‘child-sized’, extremely narrow, spiral staircase up to the Loft space. We are ‘ladies of a certain age’+ but very fit, agile & slim. Not easy to get airline / cabin sized backpacks up & down this. Guests would struggle to reach the Loft space if not super agile & slimly built, or if taller than 5ft 7”. Hand basin tiny, with eaved roof sloping inwards above it meant heads constantly hitting this! Just about useable, but water gets all over basin area. Other than these issues, we loved it!

Located in an adorable and walkable little village, gracious hosts, knockout accommodations. Could not stop taking pics of the whole place because it was so amazing.

Wish their was an easier way to order breakfast than through WhatsApp. Maybe an order card or something.
