Hursley Rooms - The Dolphin

Comfortable and being located at the pub made it easy to organise meals. If was a wet and windy day when we stayed so being able to go into the pub and enjoy a drink next to the fire was fantastic

Parking was easy. Check-in was efficient and friendly. The property was cold so they gave us some additional electric heaters.

The walls are paper thin so you feel conscious of making too much noise for the people next door. The mattress on both beds was quite basic and the pillows felt cheap and flat. It was not the most comfortable sleep I've ever had. Plus, laying on the bed on the ground floor, you get blinded by the light from the poorly fitted blind on the window on the roof. The sink in the wash basin had no hot water either, which seems odd. The check-out time of 10am is also a little harsh, but I had to lump it as it was made clear at the time of booking. The pub is FREEZING COLD!! Apparently the heating in the bar area doesn't work so customers and staff alike wear their coats inside. The open fire was almost bare. One of the other customers sent their children out to find some twigs in the beer garden as the pub wouldn't be getting any more logs for another two days. I appreciate the hospitality industry is having a hard time (aren't we all) but to be told the heating doesn't work in one part of the building didn't sound like this was a one off issue. A real shame and a disappointment.

Smelt of damp, looked like a shed. Upstairs not cleaned, no bin bags in the bins, materace awful. Advised cooked breakfast as we were already on our way there so 2 porridge pots given instead….? The only nice thing about the stay was the staff that gave us a refund straight away when advised that we will NOT be staying..

The pub food was really nice. Great menu selection, including some veggie and nice bar drinks too. Friendly staff Location was nice with easy bus links into Winchester (66) The kids loved the upstairs room's charm Would stay again for the food and access to local countryside

The room was fairly drafty and a bit tired. It was also fairly clean but a few things like someone's headband tucked into the headboard gave the impression that it could have been cleaner

Stayed here with two friends for a trip to Winchester. Good value for money. A comfortable room.

Option for cooked breakfast would be more preferable. The room/bathroom was a little tired in places - needed a little bit of TLC.

The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. Perfect little room for a one night stay or a weekend getaway!

There were no plates or cutlery or glasses (only mugs) in the room, I understand there were no kitchen facilities but it would have been nice as we bought food with us. Also no bin in the main room so our bathroom bin got full very quickly.
