This hotel is an example of modern simplicity. The rooms are clean, comfortable and equipped with the most modern amenities for a pleasant stay. In addition, its owner Mark is exceptionally friendly, providing an individual approach to every guest they encounter. I would like to mark the owner as a real man and the owner of the house. He and his family created a sense of family and care during their stay in his house. When I arrived, this hotel was an exquisite combination of coziness and comfort. From the moment I entered, the friendly Mark and his family did their best to make my stay unforgettable. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean and equipped with all the modern amenities you might need for a perfect stay.So, the room had a refrigerator, a kettle and a fan. At first it seemed very hot, but after a while we even froze, although it was 30 degrees outside.

We enjoyed the authentic village, the beach and the many nice restaurants and people in the village. You need to have a car to get around easily.

We booked 2 rooms for 1 week at Reine Creole: I deem a review necessary. As we arrived, the owner asked us to pay immediately in cash and asked my husband and myself 3 times until we managed to withdraw all cash till the next evening. The change rate selected by the owner increased the price of about 3%. The house has not been maintained over the years, pictures on Booking look nice but items are in poor shape. The outside cushions where you sit for breakfast remain in the rain, so you sit on mouldy and wet cushions. There is also a pond nearby attracting a lot of mosquitoes. We knew that the rooms had no airco but there is a lot of humidity and being inside is very, very difficult, especially at night. Because of the many mosquitoes, you have to close windows. Nights are terrible. The premises are not clean, be it the terrace nor the bathrooms. I was actually happy that I had brought some towels with me as the linen were absolutely worn out. Breakfast is basic and repetitive. The owner places a tray for breakfast on the outside table with the same meager content each morning. Beware that if you do not drink/eat one morning, it may be retrieved the next morning. Clients are expected to lay the table and bring back the tray as they are finished. Forget about the sea view... With all these details, I would certainly not recommend the place but the worst is yet to come: the owner got frustrated during the time of our vacation and passed his nerves on our family in a very, very angry way. I know that this sounds incredible. We travel a lot and have never experienced this before. The owner even resented us for ‘’sneaking around in the garden’’ in spite of the garden not being private. As we had paid at the beginning of our stay, the owner had hoped that being so mean would make us leave earlier. We decided not to have breakfast during the last days of our trip as we had lost all trust.

The Villa is very nice, you feel like at home! I am very happy to have such an experience.

Delightful apartment, friendly hosts

An unfortunate glitch meant the air conditioning was not working 100% - the owners were apologetic and made every attempt to resolve it but unfortunately not possibly completely in the holiday period. Nobody’s fault and can’t fault the owners for the way they tried to resolve it. Thank you.

Staying at La Reine Creole really feels like staying at home. I had the biggest room, actually a suite, with a kitchen, a dining area, a bed room and access to two private terraces. The entire house is beautifully done and decorated. Breakfast is served where you prefer to have it. It is standard continental breakfast. Fresh, simple, good. The owner is a very nice person and will give you a lot of useful tips if you're there to explore the area. The villa is about two kilometres away from a mall in La Gaulette. A hike from the villa to le Morne Brabant and back is about ten kilometres in total.

Nice creole house, well located between Le morne and La gaulette (a car is needed). They accomodated us for an earlier breakfast before 8:15 am (starting time). Calm area, we slept well. Mosquito net for the bed much appreciated.

The room ended up being very humid due to our unwillingness to open the windows, not protected by a mosquito screen. I opened once a window for a few hours, to later find a cockroach and a gecko in the room. I know that many well kept places in Mauritius are also host to such unwanted visitors, so this could also be an unfortunate coincidence. Breakfast is continental as stated on the description of the property; you get the same tray every day.

It is located in the rural and quiet area.

We rented the car by the owner of the property and in the contract was standing 10am-until 10am next day. He was knocking the door at 6am to get the car key. We had trouble getting the shift into the car. Also you need to pay everything in cash, what can be quite a lot of money.

Breakfast was a bit boring, the same for 3 days. Kitchen without basic spices, but were provided upon request.

Nice accommodation in a peaceful area. Mark was friendly and helpful. The house is very unique and quirky.

The cleanliness could be improved, particularly the floor which was dirty and sticky. The only way of paying for accommodation on arrival was cash. Considering that it was not a cheap stay it seems strange to expect that guests would carry in excess of 500 euros in cash. In the end we managed to pay using PayPal.
