Tithe Barn - Self Check In Hotel

Easy self check in, the room was unbelievable! Bed super comfy, bathroom was sparkling.

A little bit pricey for no breakfast included, but they don’t offer food so can’t really complain.

The rooms were beautifully decorated and a great size. The bathroom was also huge and well fitted out. The location, right in the middle of Cockermouth, couldn't be faulted. Everything was within a very short walk. The self check-in and checkout worked very well, too.

The cushions had stains on them which made me think they aren’t cleaned. Maybe get rid of cushions/linen that can’t be properly washed?

The whole Hotel and room are like something out of a White Company magazine - absolutely beautifully decorated, it feels so elegant and comfortable. The bathroom was also beautiful. The shower was piping hot with great water pressure, it felt very luxurious. Lovely tea, coffee and biscuits left too. In room thermostat was a big bonus after a day exploring Buttermere and Keswick!

Upon booking, I received a confirmation email including lots of great information. Within this email, it was stated that there is a bar below the hotel and that there may be “slight noise until 11pm when it closes”, we booked the trip last minute and understood that this might mean some noise. However, from 8pm until 1am, it felt like we were sleeping in the toilet of a nightclub. The music/bass was so loud and we could hear conversations of the patrons word for word, including karaoke! The windows were not very soundproof either, but again understandable as it is an old building. If we had known the ‘slight noise’ would be so intense and for way beyond midnight, we would have probably chosen somewhere else to stay. But upon booking and on confirmation, it wasn’t clear how loud and intense the noise would be. We were on the ground floor and there were no alternative rooms available for our stay or any compensation offered for the terrible nights sleep.

Lovely welcome, very clean and warm. Couldn’t fault it.
