Firstly not a hotel, just rooms and no luxury . No amenities in the public space, no intercom phone system Place undergoing renovation,so therefore access to the room was impossible . First eve of arrival, we could not access the room due to scaffolding and dust . We were looking for alternative accomodation at 11pm at night. Literally sitting in the heart of town in shock. Renovations lasted the entire duration of our 3 day stay . Every time we would enter, there was ladders ,paint, scaffolding and green oil paint . Photos as evidence that the duration lasted 3 days as the photos are dated . As for the staff, if you complained you were in the wrong . At no time did we use inappropriate language , but just tried to make them understand that when someone pays premium and travels for 24 hours to arrive, they don’t expect a dust bomb and renovations , and difficulty accessing. As explained, in Australia there would be regulations and fines, not to mention Health Safety issues associated with the above . The hotel ruined our experience and journey in Syros . The owner should have closed the accomodation while undergoing renovations. However at the cost of the guest discomfort and a profit for the owner. A message for the owner and staff : rather than accepting responsibility, trying to deflect the above situation by stating the guest were yelling and rude is a fabrication .
