Mary was a great host . I liked her antique cutlery and crockery. Great style . Fantastic old house with incredible woodwork. Can't be many places like this in New Zealand.

Beautiful setting with stunning gardens. Dinner package is worth it.

Be aware there is only shared bathroom facilities and the rooms weren’t ready on arrival so we helped make the beds.

Very beautiful house. Owner brought us a nice cup of tea on arrival.

Sheets weren’t clean - they obviously hadn’t been changed from the previous guest. There was hair and grit in the bed and we had to sleep on top of the duvet with a blanket. Dogs barked till 11pm and will come into your room if you don’t block the door. En-suite room had a fan which stayed on for about an hour after being turned off. The rooms smelt musty and damp. There is a grandfather clock in the hall which chimes loudly every 15 minutes. It was not made clear that not all rooms are en-suite. Hugely expensive for a very disappointing stay.

Mary was such a wonderful host - so fun to chat with and so helpful (i lost my phone prior to arriving and she helped get my addtional stays secured). :) The food was yummy and we met fun travellers from all over the world at the dining table. She also had special sightseeing recommendations, THANK YOU!

We would have liked to stay at least another night but had to move on!

The property was absolutely stunning and Mary was an absolute gem! She gave us recommendations on local places to eat which worked out handy. The dogs, Pippy and Annie, were a precious addition. You can feel the love, time and dedication that has been put into the stay. We would recommend to any of our friends looking to travel through Geraldine!

Mary was happy to boil water as we had arrived late and offered tea. Location is great and Mary loves to have a chat. The breakfast was classic continental toast,cereals and coffee.

There was a musky smell on the bedding and the house was cold after the rains and there was no heater or fireplace

The property was the Doctor Barker (pioneer earlier settlement from England). The new owner really did excellent remodeling and keeps up on it. The new owner did her best to host us, give enough information to understand her surroundings. It is worth to stopped here.

The property is rear to find. The flower garden is lovely.
