The staff were great, but language was a draw-back with much hand gestures we managed fine Breakfasts were great

No tea/coffee maker in the rooms No manager at the hotel there was a water leak and was left to the staff to deal with. Some guests were irate as had no water for at least 16 hours. Fortunately my daughter managed to calm them down as the staff were being as helpful as they could be

Location was central, good for exploring alleyways of Stone Town. Breakfast was better than average. The room had AC and was adequate size. Staff were pleasant and accommodating.

Like much of Stone Town, a certain charm came with a fair amount of dilapidation and little irregularities. It’s just the way it is. If you need things to be slick, you won’t like the hotel or Stone Town in general. We liked ST, it’s an interesting and unique place, but joked its nickname should be ‘city of 1000 code violations’. Beds seemed a little short, we are on the taller side.

Great location, big rooms, desk, AC and fan

Check in procedure was a bit archaic. Some staff excellent, others a bit grumpy or asleep
