Le Casine del Borgo

Not a long walk from the train station, close to (and with a view of) the Magdalene Bridge, overlooking the river. Also a short walk to the Penny supermarket. The double room we booked is a full apartment, with a decent kitchen, washing machine, small balcony with washing line, and a second bedroom with bunk beds. The owner was friendly and made communication easy via WhatsApp. She walked us through the keys and the apartment easily enough despite our not speaking Italian and her not speaking English.

The kitchen is missing some utensils like cooking knives, spatula/egg flip, and kettle. Also, we found the pillows too thin. The fan was a little noisy due to a damaged base. Being right next to the railway line and near the highway means it can be noisy with windows open, but fine with them closed or with ear plugs (because the cooler evenings make open windows welcome). The apartments themselves don't seem to transmit much noise between them, though. The room descriptions on the booking page are confusing. The photos and descriptions don't always match the room you get. When we booked the double room with private bathroom, booking.com offered the chance to upgrade to a room with a private bathroom... Guests should note that the buzzer at the door calls to the top apartment, not the owner.

We were staying probably in the most noisy apartment, with the windows facing a very noisy highway, which for 80-90 euro per night isn't great.
