Stay at the Winemaker

The location/view is absolutely superb. Maarten the host is extremely friendly and very engaging. We had a group BBQ with other guests and it was a magical evening.

The drive to the vineyard is along very thin roads, so not good if you are a nervous driver/passenger. It is safe and not a problem but not good for nervous people.

The breakfast was excellent, the location was beautiful and the wine was good also. Martin also offered to drive us for something to eat at night,so we could have a drink

It was further out that I thought and you definetly needed a car.

Excellent view from the room. The room is comfortable and clean. Maarten ( I hope I get the spelling right) is an excellent host. We had dinner together for 2 nights in the restaurants we probably would not know and go. And a wonderful breakfast too.

Stunning architectural wonder of a home on top of a mountain overlooking vineyards and the Douro River. Marten is a gracious host with delicious wine and great sense of humor. Truly an “off the beaten path” gem.

The beautiful remote location was a bit of a challenging drive. Marten and his stunning property were worth it!

We arrived at Luyt around 6.30 pm. Marrten welcomed us with his own 16 years old wine... infront of a beautiful view of Duoro river. Everything here is perfect. Breakfast is very delicious. We are so glad to have found you, Marrten. Keep up your great work. Thank you for looking after us so well.
