"Lovely hosts, brilliant breakfast and good location"

9.0

It's not The Ritz and it will not suit folk that like the kind of IKEA/minimalist chain/know what you're getting hotels (which is generally what I go for as a solo traveller) but it IS a very good old fashioned B&B so I'm giving a 5 and trying to write a useful review for others. Straight away the hosts make you feel like you're being invited into their family home - they are truly good hearted and lovely and nothing is too much trouble. I travelled solo for 3 nights for a music festival and had a single room on first floor: Room: Single WAYYY too comfortable bed haha!! - room small and dated decor, but clean and everything worked, ensuite, toiletries, hair dryer provided, loads of powerpoints, hot shower, tea coffee, etc. and hosts just said to ask for more anything if needed. Could have done with a couple more hangers if there for longer but I didn't need them - worked really well for me. Breakfast: Where do I start! Selection of cereals (inc home made museli), loads of fruit, yoghurt, fresh juice, toaster (for you to help yourself) and various bread/butter/marmalade and jams, tea or/and coffee and a cooked breakfast of choice. First day I had full English which blew me away (look at photos from other reviews as same) - eggs done any way you want and Bernie (hostess) said "if you want it and we've got it we'll do it for you". Second day I had a home made omelette and wanted cheese but didn't mind what else went in it.....Bernie asked me if I had allergies or anything I didn't like (no) - Blimey, there was cheese, ham, baby potatoes, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms - it set me up all day for the festival. Today before leaving I had scrambled eggs and salmon with toast, which when it came I can vouch anywhere else would have cost £20 for half the plate!

Personally not my usual style - old fashioned decor but that's a matter of taste - I can't fault it otherwise

"Friendly, comfortable, good b'fast, dated, host bit forgetful, difficult to park, long walk to town"

7.0

Host was very friendly, chatty and accommodating. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Decor in whole B&B was dated, although it is quite charming, so not a major slight. When first entering the hallway, we smelled a bit of damp. Asked for soy milk for next day when asked about dietary requirements as partner is lactose intolerant, but host unfortunately forgot. The brown bread was mouldy but host apologised and got new bread straight away. Parking was difficult as barely any parking in front of B&B or in surrounding area because of lots of double yellow lines. Was down the road from the beach, but it's at the north, top side of the town, so it's quite a walk to get to the main part of the town.

Hostess was a very lovely lady.my room was at the back of the house away from street noise. Room very comfortable en suite. Breakfast was amazing, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon - yum! Full English was also available. My hostess had lots of local information about things to do.

The hostess simply couldn't do enough for me, giving information about parking, ware to eat and the best route to find the guest house and how to continue my journey. There was nothing I did not like .
