Villa Alta - Residenza d'epoca con piscina

Rafaella was an excellent hostess. She and her sister Monica take such pride in their boutique Villa. Every detail was perfect! We were arriving late and Rafaella offered to have pasta & wine for us!

Very nice but we stayed too short to envoy everything.

beautiful gardens. Lovely staff. historic setting. Attention to detail. Nice central location between our key cities of interest (Pisa, Lucca and Florence). A peaceful alternative to city hotels.

long walk up from the bus stop at the end of long days of walking around Pisa, Florence and then Lucca. In retrospect, we would probably have hired a car and parked outside of each city which would also eliminate having to watch the time to make sure we didn't miss trains or buses.

The entrance to the villa is a bit complicated

We stayed only one night, as we were traveling through and needed someplace to stay last minute. The property is beautiful, with a pool, orange trees, and stunning main villa. The staff were very nice, and breakfast was lovely.

We booked the largest suite in the main house, accommodating 5 people, but were placed in a dark duplex room in a separate cottage. It was not necessarily worse - perhaps we would have preferred it in the winter, as it had a hot tub that we did not use - but it was different than we expected. I inquired at checkout and they said they switched the room because the AC was broken in the suite. This is understandable, but it still would have been nice to know at the outset and be offered the opportunity to pick a different room or rooms. Also I did not realize when I booked that our two kids (who slept on a pull out couch) are considered adults, which added about 50% to the cost of the suite. It seems this was my mistake but had I known I would have booked two separate non-suite rooms so both myself/my husband and my kids could sleep in an actual bed and have own bathroom for the same price.
