"Large, simply furnished, and comfortable in excellent Erice location just inside the walls"

6.0

We seemed to be the only guests here for our one night stay in Erice. Our room #3 was large and everything seems to be very new. The simple furnishings included a double bed with two night tables, good lighting, an open "closet" with real hangers and a curtain to cover the opening, TV on its own table, a large wood table big enough for two rollerboards, and two ottomans. There was a small hall to the bathroom, which had a door to a small terrace. The bathroom (also with good lighting) had a shower with terrific hot water, bidet, toilet, stone sink in a counter, and a space heater which we needed for the cold night (there were actually snow flurries that April evening!). Amenities included 2 soaps, shampoo, bath gel an lotion. WIfi was good. The room really needs a full length mirror on one of its bare walls and a luggage rack or two would be a good idea. The B&B is located just inside the Porta Trapani gate so when you arrive, you may be able to get a temporary parking place in that parking lot. Walk inside the gate to the first door on your right and ring the buzzers. The likelihood is that the proprietor is in his cafe below. We arranged for him to park the car since parking in the lot has an 8 am to midnight fee. The Erice location is outstanding -- no dragging luggage up into town to a B&B, easy walk to churches, shops, and restaurants. (Erice reminds us of Mont Saint Michel in that you always seem to be walking uphill and there are little shops everywhere.) The evening's host told us that breakfast would be at 7:30 in the cafe/bar/restaurant below, but the person was not there until almost 8:30. (ding!) The "breakfast" was the most spartan in our entire 17-day trip -- yogurt, pear juice, packaged "toast," coffee, and a croissant. That was it, which is fine if you know this ahead of time and have not waited an hour for it. We would have left early had we known AND had we known where the car was parked. Therefore, our "average" rating. Otherwise, it would be a Very Good to Excellent, especially because of its location and proximity to or availability of parking. We would definitely recommend this clean B&B and would stay here again, making sure we know 1) where the car is parked so we can get it in the morning and 2) pay for our room the night before so we are not dependent on a cafe waiter showing up on time for "breakfast" which we would skip.
