Huoneen tekniikka ei toiminut; ilmalämpöpumppu puhalsi vain viileätä, huoneessa oli kylmä. Sähkölaitteille ei ollut oikeanlaisia koskettimia; fööni ei siksi toiminut. Vedenkeittimelle ei ollut kosketinta lainkaan, joten jääkaappi oli irrotettava, että sai keittimen päälle. Keittimessä oli niin lyhyt johto, että sitä oli pidettävä lattialla. Ilman kosteus on alueella suuri, joten oven lukko ei toiminut hyvin. Huone oli pimeä.
