Serendipity

It was an oasis of calm in a really pretty garden just outside town with views to the ocean. A short walk to the beach for watching the sunset turtle release. Breakfast was fantastic. Sharon the owner was on hand for advice on local attractions if required.

Serendipity was just what we were hoping for, and we look forward to returning with friends. Breakfasts are fresh, delicious, made to order, and plentiful. The menu offers a variety of great choices, so we tried something different each morning. The location is fantastic, with a pretty, short walk down to the beach, great views and whale-spotting from the room or the tower, and an easy walk to the small but wonderful restaurant strip. Sharon's recommendation of 5 Tacos and a Beer served us extremely well. We really enjoyed the hot tub and getting to look at the stars (and a meteor shower) from it. Sharon is an attentive, friendly, but utterly non-intrusive host. We got to learn a bit about the history of the place, and she arranged horseback riding for us, which was a fabulous way to spend a morning and see more of the area.

The location was great for us. Short walk to the beach and easy access to town with a rental car. The property had a beautiful view and was nice and quiet. The two dogs, Camilla and Gnolla were nice to have around. The breakfasts are excellent and they are served by the pool in a lovely shaded area.

My wife and I found it rather surprising that every request we made during our four day stay— ice for our drinks, a paring knife to cut limes, extra pillows, fresh towels, etc... — seemed to be an imposition. (Ice seemed to be a particularly big ask so we eventually went to town and bought our own bag.) We had been told at check in that there would be a small wedding taking place during our stay, but the event would not impinge on the guest common areas and we were to "make ourselves at home". The next day when I entered the guest lounge area for a couple of wine glasses to take back to our room the owner appeared to challenge me being there, asking "Can I help you?" She then informed me that the lounge was closed for the private wedding even though nobody was using the room. On a separate occasion I went down to the guest area early one morning to work on my computer (wifi reception is somewhat better near the pool), but was again questioned why I was there. We did not receive daily housekeeping service, other than changing the garbage pail in the room and bathroom. Imagine our surprise when the owner prompted us to tip housekeeping staff. Prompting guests to tip staff is rather crass; it should be at the discretion of each guest. (We did tip our breakfast server, but declined to tip housekeeping, letting the owner know we did not get daily room cleaning service.) Some furnishings are in need of maintenance. The table on our patio was falling apart and could not support objects on it. And the door to our room would regularly get stuck and had to be forcefully jolted open when unlocked. Both could easily be fixed. The bedding and towels are quite old, and our pillows were flat and lumpy so we requested additional pillows. As with requests for ice, the response was "I'm not sure if we have any". (They were eventually provided). Investing in fresh bedding and towels would significantly improve the guest experience.

Serendipity is gorgeous, It is on a beautiful developed site -- beautiful plantings all around and wonderfully designed buildings that surround a central kitchen, dining, pool area but afford each guest room a lot of privacy (including a private out-door space). The pool was clean and refreshing (although small), the breakfast area beautiful and the beach is just a short walk (I'd guess it's less than 1/4 mile) away. Our bedroom was lovely and the bed and incredibly comfortable. king. We had only booked for one night, but it was hard to leave.

Really didn't have any complaints. It was a delightful stay.

Way out on a country dusty road, we found this beautiful oasis! The grounds were lovely and only hosted around 10 rooms. The owner lives on the premises which is great because she was readily available! Cute little swimming pool with hot tub, ymmy breakfasts were included in the price, 8 minute walk to the beach. Short drive into town.

The breakfast was amazing. Fresh fruit, juice, tea and coffee, and homemade mexican entrees.

Hot tub wasn't hot.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. We booked two rooms for two couples and they were next door to each other with a shared patio. Loved how close it was to beach. Breakfast was wonderful.
