Bed & Breakfast in the Heart of Fendalton

Such a lovely place! Vicki and her daughter are extremely welcoming and nice to talk to, we felt right at home. The bed is very comfortable and it is just a 15 mins drive from the airport. We hope to stay here again some time!

It is relatively far from the centre, more than an hour walk (or 15 mins drive if you have a car) and in the neighbourhood there is not that much. We really didn’t mind though, as we just stayed here for a transit.

Vicki’s place is lovely. Bed was comfortable, shower and bathroom were great. Breakfast was lovely in the morning. Vicki is very sweet and lovely to chat to.

When we stayed it was 32°C in Christchurch, when we arrived at the B&B our room was in the direct sunlight so was absolutely boiling! There was a fan in the room, but obviously no A/C, so we really struggled to cool the room down to be able to comfortably sleep. 95% of the year this wouldn’t be an issue, it was just we were there on one of the hottest days of the year!! The room is effectively just a bedroom in her house, rather than what you would think of a typical B&B, initially it was strange going into her house on our own (while she was out so left the key for us) but it was absolutely fine, if she was in it probably wouldn’t have seemed unusual. But all in all it was no problem. We weren’t looking for anything fancy, just somewhere to sleep before going to the airport. So do recommend. We had our own key and the room was secure. It’s almost just like staying with a friend or an aunty or something!

Vicki gave us a warm welcome on our arrival and we immediately felt at home. She made us a cup of tea and chatted to us as she prepared a meal for friends. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we were welcome to use the kitchen any time we wanted to. We liked the location , which was in a quiet suburb, but also in easy reach of shops and restaurants. It was also just 15 minutes or so from the airport. Vicki was a lovely host, and nothing was too much trouble. She really made us feel welcome and we highly recommend staying at Heart of Fendalton B & B. You won't be disappointed.
