De Galeriet Giethoorn

Our worst hotel experience ever. We do not recommend this place. The building is extremely old and run-down, with creaky floors and doors. The worst part was the terrible smell — a strong, sickening odor coming from the bathroom, like sewage or worse. It gave us headaches and even got into our clothes. Breakfast was equally disappointing: a few slices of ham and cheese, dry tasteless bread (clearly frozen before), and nothing fresh or appealing. There were also spiders everywhere, with visible webs in the corners — clearly not a well-maintained place. Unfortunately, this was the most unpleasant stay we’ve ever had. Avoid this hotel if you can.

Location is excellent, right in the heart of Giethoorn, very convenient. Rooms are great size and sleep 4 comfortably, comes with all amenities for your stay. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating when we arrived past checkin time. A very positive experience overall.

Check in time was a bit late, at 5pm.

Very good location, in the center of the town and close to the lovely restaurant. The room is lovely and it’s good to experience the local house beside the river. Staffs are nice. Breakfast is good too.
