If you want to be not far from Nang Thong beach and the bars and restaurants at that end of Khao Lak, without all the noise, then this is a decent budget option as it's on a side road on the mountain side of the main street and is quite quiet. The room was big, so was the bed, and the little fridge was quiet (important for a light sleeper like me). Basic facilities - a kettle, coffee mug and a glass on the bedside table. You get the standard two small bottles of water every day. The aircon worked well (you really need it at this time of year) and was easily adjustable. If you're into cooking, the restaurant/school next door run by the Les Fleurs owner is apparently excellent. They also do a craft beer camp but I know nothing about it. There are two good coffee places nearby (Mali and Waankarn) plus two 7-11s at the bottom of the road and a few supermarkets.

The patio area of my room looked out at the back wall of the next-door hotel, so all you see is a wall and aircon units. The cleaner left the sliding door open before I moved in, presumably to air out the room, but it let in loads of mosquitos. I had to go on a killing spree to get rid of them all and never opened the door again, because they seemed to like hanging around outside on the glass door and the patio walls. The bathroom door handle needs fixing as it was hard to close the door properly without the knob almost coming off. Thankfully the screens on the bathroom windows did their job and kept out the insects. I might have misread the listing but there wasn't really a communal kitchen area - it's part of the cooking school next door and I was told you have to ask permission to use the area in case there is a course being held. There is no microwave for heating up ready meals from 7-11, but if I was a top chef I probably wouldn't allow one in my guest house either!

She’s really lovely and very welcoming. All the staff was really friendly and made us enjoy our stay. Location is good, not too far from the seaside and a few steps from the main road. The room was clean and the appliances working. Highly recommend it :)
