The Outing Lodge

There was character and history, but it was not kept up very well.

It was COLD in our room. 60 degrees when we arrived and after all night running 2 weak space heaters we got to 65. It all seemed to be deteriorating and falling apart.

We loved the antique charm of the place. Great artwork and ambiance. Hosts were great and breakfast was good.

Bed was a little hard/springs.

The hosts are just wonderful! The breakfast each morning was a gourmet selection.

It’s an older, historic property so we did need to rely on a ceramic heater in our bathroom to be comfortable. We also had an electric fireplace in our room that was appreciated.

When you first turn into the driveway past the two formal posts, down the quiet forest lined drive and up to the house surrounded by gardens and covered in ivy, the impression is "this place is magical". You feel like you are a world away, yet you are only a few miles from Stillwater. The surrounding park lands are absolutely beautiful. The house itself feels more like an English estate you are a guest of, the inside is well appointed with antiques, a giant fireplace, baby grand, a beautiful library, our king room was huge and comfortable, and the homemade freshly concocted breakfast of red velvet bread pudding, various quiches, fruit with vanilla dip, apple muffins, and croissant sandwhiches, plus homemade fruit smoothies etc. was just absolutely out of this world!! This place was a complete treat, from start to finish. They were extremely welcoming and friendly, ensuring we had a great stay. Wow.

We loved Outing Lodge! It has an interesting history and there's authenticity in the renovations done. The owners were wonderful - attentive, interesting, informative and a delight to have met.

It smelled musty, old, not quaint old. Light switch was in the shower and bulb hung from the bathroom ceiling.

Beautiful estate! Pure relaxation which helped us disconnect from the world around us. Such charm and history. Also able to enjoy a homemade breakfast with the owners, which was a fun bonus. Will definitely be back.
