Jan is spectacular!!!

The location was private but yet close to town, the dining room area was awesome with great views, meeting other guests at breakfast (great options for breakfast) and the host Jan, was outstanding. Our flight into Anchorage was quite late; we worked with Jan (the host) to advise our late arrival. Jan greeted us upon our arrival at 2 am to ensure we found everything we needed. Jan went above and beyond to ensure the guests had everything they needed.

This has to be one of the nicest B&B we have ever stayed in. Our Host, Jan, a retired school teacher who worked in some very remote places in Alaska, had some interesting teaching experiences. The home was beautifully designed with hard wood floors, large windows, and wraparound deck to be a B&B when she retired from teaching. and was extremely efficient and maticulously maintained. The B&B was located in the woods near Glacier Creek on the outskirts of Seward not too far from Bear Lake, Exit Glacier road, and the restaurants in that area, and was only a short drive to down town Seward. Our room was located on 2nd floors and we had the King Suite with access to kitchen and dining room for breakfast. We had access to the kitchen which had every drawer and cabinet labeled as to what was in it. The refrigerator was supplied with all kinds of food (eggs, yogurt, milk etc), plus a selection of cereals, breads, jams, etc. Our suite had 2 bathrooms sinks, shower/bath, walk-in closet to put our luggage and clothes rack. The room was well stocked with tissue, TP, and towels. There was a sofa, lounge chair, coffee maker, microwave and exit to the deck in the room. It was from the deck that we were able to safely photograph a mother moose and her calf eating Jan’s flowers. There was plenty of parking and entry was up stairs. We loved this place and highly recommend it.

We were looking for a B&B to stay at during our short visit to Seward in August. I found the Glacier Creek Lodge on Booking.com, and it looked like a beautiful property, in a very private location. We were greeted by Jan, the property owner when we arrived and she showed us the area we would be staying. We had the upstairs floor, and the room was beautiful. The furnishings were cozy and tasteful, and the amenities were much appreciated for an early morning cup of coffee. The use of her kitchen to prepare our breakfast was wonderful. She keeps a variety of breakfast items for her guests, and provides a beautiful area to enjoy our meal with a spectacular view of the mountains. There is also a community seating area, so guests can mingle. The property is about 5 miles from downtown Seward, so a very short drive was all we needed to enjoy the harbor area and all of the great shops and restaurants. Jan was such a gracious hostess, and should we return to Seward, we would definitely consider staying with her again.

Great variety of food to choose from for breakfast that were good quality. We liked the location as it was very serene.

This was the best lodging of our whole Alaska vacation! It is hard to find spacious rooms in Alaska, but our room was spacious! Jan was the best host! Not only did she stock the fridge, kitchen, and our room with all the necessities for our stay and breakfast, but was also very helpful in providing information about restaurants and places to visit! We also had access to a common room for relaxing, which was also part of the kitchen with an open floor plan and lots of windows to take in the views. The location was perfect for our planned activities of hiking and visiting Seward.
