The Tamarillo

The stay was so good that we had second thought to go back home. We wanted to extend our stay and spend time there. The hosts are all so humble and friendly and caring to the core. Everything is Amazing and our car also got a free water splash before checkout.

Leider ist die Unterkunft stark in die Jahre gekommen. Die Sauberkeit lässt zu wünschen übrig; insbesondere die Bettdecken und Vorhänge waren sichtbar verschmutzt. Besonders kritisch ist der Schimmel im gesamten Badezimmer. Insgesamt stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hier leider gar nicht. Für den verlangten Preis hatten wir einen deutlich besseren Zustand erwartet.

I agree with other reviews which mention the excellent staff who absolutely make the stay what it is. The location is good with views to the tea plantation and distant hills and it was a short drive to the centre of Ooty. The terrace outside the room was lovely and made for a relaxing place to sit. The staff were exceptional; friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and we were given options for what we wanted.

The disappointment was the overall quality of the accommodation which I don't think is good enough, especially compared with other places I stayed in the area, and for the price charged. I am surprised that so many reviews gave it 9 and 10 stars with several calling it excellent and even exceptional. I simply fail to see how they could think this. The room, fixtures, fittings and overall quality were all below what I expected. The bathroom had mould along the shower walls, there were patches of flaking paint on the walls, the toilet seat didn't fit properly, there was rust on many of the metal finishes and the whole places is in dire need of a refresh. I booked the stay to a large extent based on the positive reviews I read and wanted to try and balance these reviews with my own experience in the hope of avoiding others from the disappointment that I had. The pity is that the place has huge potential and the staff were superb. With some money spent on the interior and furnishings, The Tamarillo could be excellent. As it is, I think it is over-priced and certainly in no way 'excellent' never mind 'exceptional'.

I had the best experience here. The staff were exceptional. I stayed here for 3 days — the room was clean, and the environment was very peaceful. The scenery from the hotel was especially beautiful, and the food was very tasty. Overall, my stay exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic location (views) and the staff did everything to make us comfortable. They arranged for the use of a local driver who was invaluable in showing us all the sights in and around Ooty and. Coonoor. He also picked us up from Mysore and took us to the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on our way to the property. The home cooked food was extremely tasty.

Unfortunately, we were there during a particularly cold spell. The property does not have heating in the room so it wasn’t as comfortable as it could have been. It also meant we were unable to use the balcony.

The property is located in a quite place offering a beautiful view of the lush green mountains

The place has good vibe, the view is scenic and the staff is friendly.

Privacy is a little less due to Layout of the hotel. It's good for family and friends.

We had a lovely stay and were well looked after by all the staff.
