L'Affaccio

Lovely apartment on edge of the Sassi. Rooftop balcony provided extraordinary views, great for a quiet drink early evening as the sky darkens and the lights come on. Angelina was a wonderful host, very friendly and checked in to make sure everything was going well.

Historic location but less busy area; very clean and comfortable with an incredible view of Matera from the balcony and inside the common area. Nice bathroom and bedding. The owner Angela is extremely attentive and helpful, organizing tours for us and recommending places to visit. We loved the wine she left for us. An outstanding choice and we hope to return.

Stayed in may 2023. L'Affaccio have a perfect lacalization to for active sightseeing of Matera - the old town. The facility is within a 10-12 minute walk from the main railway station and the bus station. There is no direct access by car if that is your way of travelling, but you may find parking close by. In the close vicinity you will find everything you need - bars, restaurants, bakeries, market. Our room was on the first floor of the apartment (internal stairs), there is only one more room on the ground floor for other guests. Our room was spacious, equipped with everything you need (air conditioning, hangers, luggage space, comfortable bed, bedside tables, TV), the room has a window overlooking a small side street. There was silence at night. The bathroom is well equipped (with a small window overlooking old Matera), equipped with disposable gels, soap, shampoo, adequate amount of towels, shower, bidet. All quite modern very clean and tidy. In the common area there is a kitchenette with basic utensils and a living room with a table and chairs. On the first floor there is a public balcony with a beautiful view of the old town which I liked the most, there are tables and chairs where you can relax. The whole apartment is neat - artistically decorated in good taste. The owner of the facility is very nice, helpful and communicative. Very good value for money, wish there were more places like L'Affaccio in Italy. In summary, I recommend this place!

Lovely, friendly host for a beautiful property in an amazing central location. Just exceptional. Very much enjoyed the fact that the premises had a small kitchen, with everything you need to make coffee/tea, and a small frig. As we stayed there over Easter, we really appreciated being able to have our own Easter Sunday brunch on the property terrace, relaxing while looking out at the gorgeous view. If you go to Matera, we recommend that you stay here. (One note: like many places in Matera, there are stairs so if you have issues with stairs, be sure to book the room on the main floor, as there are only few stairs at the entry down to the main level.)

The location is right in the centre of Matera. Lovely view from the apartment and it was easy to park in the street a road away. The hostess was very friendly and helpful.

The apartment was minimalistic and very clean, and in a great locy, but the highlight by far was the balcony
