The Tempus at Charlton Hall Estate

Such a relaxing and welcoming stay, thanks to the fantastic staff who just made it perfect. Our little baby loved it too! Highly recommend, also very easy to get to other lovely places around the coast.

We were visiting the area and particularly Alnwick Castle for our 43rd wedding anniversary. The Tempest has a very eclectic and boutiquey decor and vibe which is a nice change from the usual chain hotels. The property has a rural setting yet not too far from civilisation. Ample and easy parking available. The external appearance is a nice mix of traditional styling and design around original stone buildings with a modern contemporary twist to the newer elements. As we booked late we only had the choice of a room overlooking the car park but some of the larger rooms have full height gable windows with panoramic views over the countryside. From check-in to check-out, all the staff we encountered at reception, in the dining areas and housekeeping were friendly, polite and courteous. The quality of accommodation and ambience was superb in consideration of the room rate. Will definitely return when we are back in the North East.

A truly unique establishment, and a great place to stay

Lovely room in a lovely hotel. We were there for a wedding at Doxford Hall which was only 5 minutes by car. Quiet location, lovely to hear the birds in the morning. Nice touch having the teepee on site for the football.

A very nice venue and lovely to have a small outdoor space in which to sit with a cup of tea or coffee, but with a few disappointments along the way. Service at the bar was poor. There was no ginger ale for my husband's whisky and no choice of gin for my gin and tonic. Nor was there any ordinary tonic, only slimline, which I dislike. Restaurant service on one of our two days was very slow. On the plus side, breakfast was delicious.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely room. Restaurant excellent and friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

The decor and furnishings were of high quality

Lovely quiet location with lovely building. Room very good although entrance from outside and no venue umbrellas available. Also doors to room very difficult to lock and open. Room cleaning was not great with spoons left uncleaned in sink on 1st day. Food in restaurant was good although breakfast waitress was very unhelpful and abrupt.
