República Guest House

Graça ist eine außergewöhnliche Gastgeberin, die Freundlichkeit in Person. Ihre Ratschläge waren sehr hilfreich und kompetent. Das República liegt ideal, um Coimbra nur zu Fuß zu erkunden. Das Frühstück ist top, die weichen Eier perfekt! ;-) Jederzeit ein Kaffee oder ein Glas Portwein, das muß man erst einmal woanders finden! Sollten wir wieder einmal in diese Stadt kommen ist die Unterkunft keine Frage! Abrigado Graça!

The breakfast was superb! There was fresh orange juice every morning along with fruit, yogurt, different choices of cooked eggs, cheese, assorted breads. The owners, Graça and João, were very interesting, helpful, and great at conversation. We loved our stay there and will stay again whenever we are in Coimbra.

If you visit Coimbra during the term or semester, the students can be a little noisy at night (like every college town). But it all quiets down around midnight so it did not bother us at all.

An exceptional stay in a charming guest house! Graça & João were like family members, making us feel as if we were staying in our own home. Maria was also friendly and helpful. Energetic and personable Graça opened up her entire accommodation to us, including the kitchen, garden and parlor, inviting us to consume whatever we wanted (delicious Port wine, beer, water, coffee/tea, fruit) and offering use of her refrigerator. She also allowed us to leave our two suitcases in the house on the day of checkout while we did more sightseeing. We were treated and trusted like family. The location was safe and excellent, breakfast was even better, including eggs Graça personally made to order, local meats and cheeses, fresh breads and homemade preserves. We would unhesitatingly stay again and recommend República Guest House without reservation.

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, sharing recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The location is close enough to walk to all the main attractions in the historic center. We would happily return.

Thanks for the warm hospitality of the guest host Graça & João who provide a high quality stay and sleep in this excellent location of Coimbra and the nice breakfast prepared by them

Hopefully the city Metro will arrive soon so that we can visit again by the Metro next time
