The Old School B&B

We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts. Good, appropriate food served on vintage crockery! Served in a homely room with a friendly atmosphere.

Just one little niggle. A bedside light on both sides of the double bed would have been good.

The room was quiet after 10pm. I slept well. Breakfast was just right; perfectly cooked poached eggs. Excellent coffee in a generous sized pot.

. During the evening there were several loud bangs as a fierce self-closing door shut. I switched the extractor fan off because it lasted too long after I’d switched it off.

This is a lovely homely B&B and exactly as you would expect it to be. The family that own it are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The breakfast is fantastic

A very functional B&B that provided a clean room, a fabulous shower and a reasonable cooked breakfast.

There were no major problems, but nothing that was particularly standout that would make me want to come back again. The room that I was staying was clean, but could do with a freshen up to make it a bit lighter/more inviting

This was a fantastic B&B just off the M6, which was the perfect staging post for our long journey from the south of England to west Scotland. We were greeted by the owner on arrival even though it was quite late, with a roaring fire and all the comfort we'd expect from Cumbrian hospitality. The family room we had was perfect for a family of five (and indeed would have been fine for six): clean, comfortable, and with great facilities. There's a park just opposite the B&B to get rid of excess kid energy in the evening too! The breakfast the next day was just what we needed to set us up for the day - cooked breakfast options that everybody could choose from. An interesting historical building, and lots of very interesting local history on the walls too, by the way. Overall, really first rate - very welcoming.
