Jean was very welcoming to us and our dog. Comfortable bed. Lots of choice for breakfast. Jean recommended a fantastic dog friendly pub within walking distance for our evening meal

Area for breakfast was a little cramped

"Great location. Great room. Lovely gardens. Friendly, helpful host."

I liked the setting. The rooms each form what might be described as a garden annexe, and are therefore surrounded by beautiful gardens abundant with mature trees and a kaleidoscope of colourful roses and other flowers. With ample seats and tables it was a wonderful place to relax outside of One's room. Nearby are nice pubs and eateries. It is well located for a variety of places on the south coast. The host - Jean - was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and were equipped with everything you might need.

"Lovely stay, will definitely come back if I need to stay in the Southampton area again."

The host, Jean, was lovely and very attentive, explaining everything and giving us a tour of our accommodation. My mum stayed in a room with B&B, which had everything she needed for our two-night stay. She said the breakfast was lovely. I stayed in the separate chalet (Otter's Holt), which was like a gingerbread house, with my two children. The chalet had everything we needed, including a fridge, toaster, kettle, sink, bathroom, TV and comfy beds. Jean also provided us with bread, yoghurts, milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and lots of hot chocolate for the kids. It was nice to be away from everyone else, so that the kids could watch TV in the evening and know we weren't disturbing anyone. We had our own parking space, which was perfect. I loved being able to have my morning coffee in the secluded seating outside in the beautiful garden. The location is also only a short walk from Botley, so we were able to walk (5 minutes) out for dinner. I know that the chalet welcomes pets, which is handy for some, I know.

We loved everything and really had no criticism overall. However, I'm sure I could smell the whiff of dog in the chalet. Either that or it was an air freshener. I'm fairly sensitive to smells. It was during a heatwave, which also doesn't help, so I had to air the room by opening the doors and windows.

"Great value for a single night stopover."

6.0

Great selection of breakfast items, cereals, cold meats, breads, croissants, crumpets-and you could help yourself at whatever time suited you. The room where breakfast is, is quite small and I imagine if all the guests chose to eat in there at the same time it would be quite crowded, but there were options to eat outside or back in your room, which certainly alleviates the pressure inside the breakfast room.

For me the bed was uncomfortable, but that could be my personal choice. I like a firm bed, but this was soft and a bit lumpy in places. Also it was very hot in the room and although a fan was provided, the fan was too noisy to have on during the night. The room was basic but completely functional, a desk, a bed, tea/coffee, en suite. Perfectly acceptable, especially for the price. I would have liked a net curtain or blind up at the bathroom window though, as this was directly opposite the breakfast room and other guests walk past the window.
