Chamisland Hanhly homestay

The Homestay is in the smaller town and it’s really quiet and not touristy. The owners are amazing, super friendly and helpful.

A three day stay with the Hanh Ly Homestay in a beautiful little fishing village that proved to be an unforgettable experience. Boat transfers and scooter hire was arranged by Ly Ly which made for an easy start to our stay. The scooter was waiting at the wharf for us and we followed one of the friendly villagers to the home stay. The roads are sealed, there are no cars and only a few scooters once you get out of the main port town, so it was safe and easy to navigate. Hanh, Ly Ly and parents welcomed us like family and we were treated exceptionally well. We had the front room on the first floor. Our room had a fan, air conditioning and hot water and we slept well each night. The food and drinks were great, especially the fresh fish, seafood and coffee. Despite it being an island with most food needing to be brought in by boat, the prices of the meals were very reasonable. Having a scooter meant that we could explore the island, especially the beautiful beaches. On the northern beach, Bai Bac we had the beach to ourselves. There is a very small fee that goes towards beach maintenance, and beach chairs, food and drinks are available on the beaches. Just outside the home stay is the beach and a large community area where village life goes on around you; fishing net making/repairing, herbal tea chopping and drying, families eating, children swimming and playing, fishing boats coming and going, happy chatter, afternoon siestas, deck chairs and hammocks for relaxing, a safe beach for swimming, and the odd cheeky monkey trying its luck! We had one very special evening to celebrate Hanh’s birthday. With his family, friends, and the other guests we celebrated in style … a feast of local dishes, celebratory drinks, cake and to finish off, karaoke which was so much fun. If you want a relaxing authentic experience in beautiful surroundings then we can highly recommend staying with Hanh, Ly Ly and their family at Hanh Ly Homestay.

Quiet location by the beach. Let us check in early which was great. Great if you’re looking for a very quiet getaway.

Very basic and not particularly comfortable. Just a small sheet on the bed. Costs 60k each way from the port (added charge).

I originally planned to stay a few days and ended up there for close to two weeks! Lilly Hanh treated me like family. They went above and beyond. I'm am so grateful 🙏 The iland is wonderful , but staying with this family made everything magical ✨️. If you're into seafood, ask to go off the menu. " Hanh will source the " catch off the day and ask you how you like it prepared. Hanh has over twenty years of experience in major hotels. Everything he makes is deftly prepared , poaching, braising, grilling, steaming, and raw dishes that would rival the top sushi spots around the world! Every evening was a surprise to my taste buds as well to my eyes! Surprise, after surprise, the other guests were in awe as well. Wanted to keep this gem to myself, but you know what happens to the fat greedy pigs... Hahaha, all about passing it forward . I am blessed to have bumped into this place 🙏

The location is perfect. Lily the host and her family are just amazing and made sure we were happy and could enjoy the best of the island. No big tourists groups or annoying tours around. It felt local, welcoming and relaxing. We could rent a scooter organized by the host and when we arrived they picked us up at the port. Lily can also organize tickets from and to Hoi An port and at a way cheaper price vs the ones hotels in Hoi An do. The food is great and Lili’s husband a great cook. You can also go diving or snorkeling, they’ll plan for you. The island is very small and you can easily go around with the scooter and reach all the beautiful beaches.

Simple but clean rooms, excellent food, location in a small fishing village, lovely hosts that can efficiently arrange transfer to/from the island, snorkeling, scooter rental… thank you!

Loved the location away from main port and the lovely owners. Hiring bikes and exploring the island was a highlight. Lots of stunning beaches. Cham is a beautiful island to chill out and explore local life. Kids had fun playing soccer with the locals in the evening
