NZThe breakfast was nice, outdoor garden setting was perfect for dining.
The lock on our door didn't work and we ended up having another guest walk into our room twice. Two bathrooms between 10 people was not enough in the evening and morning for showers.
AUWe loved the ambience of the place. We enjoyed conversations with the other like minded travellers. Plenty of reading material and supplies in general . Breakfast was simply superb. Fresh and plentiful.
My wife is allergic to cats, and this would be the only negative of our experience. Also, an extra sign pointing to the red gate might be beneficial to cyclists on the Rail Trail.

AUAUAUAUA great location right on the rail trail, about 200 metres from the Lauder pub, via the rail trail, so you can have a few brews and walk back 😉 A unique mud house (numerous in the area) with shared facilities. Comfy beds. A good continental breakfast. The extra friendly tabby cat comes free of charge.
NZLovely, quaint old home with a gorgeous outdoor setting. The fireplace in the open living area made the house very cozy.
This is not a criticism on the accommodation at all but if you are a larger group as we were (8), book well ahead if you want to dine at the local pub. It is the only place to eat without needing to drive and they could not take us even though they only had 15 in for dinner the night we were there!
