It's location was fantastic. Even though it is not that close to the Alishan national park - the actual surrounding areas are more scenic (in terms of views of the mountains) than the park itself - and there are a number of very nice trails nearby. There's even a good spot to view the sunset, which is about 5-10 walk up the tea fields near the B&B. The hostess' English is pretty good and she was very helpful (this included her calling up the Alishan visitor centre for us to answer a query we had about the buses from Alishan). The place is not cheap - but I think it was good value for money, given that the b&b (and the next door b&bs) are very nice to chill out at. Also, the free breakfast was decent - and the host is very helpful in helping drive us to nearby locations (namely Shizhao - where you can get the bus to the Alishan park - and Fenqihu, but not the Alishan park, as that is about 45 minutes away). I would stay here again.

This isn't a problem with the hotel exactly, but if you want to go to the Alishan park - I would suggest trying to arrange a private car pick up to Alishan, as the buses to Alishan can be too full to take people from Shizhao. Although I didn't do this, I would ask the host/hostess to advise on local drivers to hire for this, ahead of your stay
