La lauze et l'anguille

Lieu charmant, central mais au calme, dans une maison du vieux Gaillac. Cosy et chaleureux, atypique et original dans sa décoration. Tout est bien pensé et l'on se sent accueilli comme chez des amis. Articles de toilette divers et variés (jusqu'au lait pour le corps !), literie confortable , prises en nombre suffisant (de chaque côté du lit !) , informations et dépliants touristiques, linge de toilette et de lit de bonne qualité et, pour compléter le tableau, un petit-déjeuner varié et excellent (fruit frais pressés, fromage, charcuterie, croissant, gâteau et confitures maison, beurre, fruits, thé, café, lait, tisane etc...). Un hôte, que nous n'avons pas eu le plaisir de rencontrer, mais qui s'est montré très réactif, disponible et d'une grande gentillesse . Tout ça pour un très bon rapport qualité/prix. Allez-y les yeux fermés !

What a quirky place! We stayed in many varied types of accommodation on our trip but this was far and away the most unusual! On arrival, when we eventually found it, the first reaction was 'oh dear, not too sure about this!' but once you adjust to the surroundings and look around inside you realise that there's everything there that you need - the room is clean, as is all the bedding and towels, there's a reasonable amount of space, a good shower, the area is generally quiet - breakfast was in another part of the building via a different external entrance in yet another interesting room chock full of memorabilia - no sign of anyone to ask so a bit of exploration required to understand how to access hot drinks etc but a plentiful spread of fresh produce. A short climb up the adjecent steps led up into the town and the river was just a few metres away - parking for our motorcycle was on the street nearby and whilst not ideal it was OK. As a one off visit I could certainly recommend it but couldn't imagine staying more than a night or two.

Not very easy to find as its not actually on a road but up/down a lot of steps dependent on which direction you arrive from - it certainly had our satnav confused and we had to resort to a bit of exploration on foot to track it down rather than risk venturing into difficult areas on a heavily laden motorcycle - on foot the distinctive corner window is the giveaway. Lighting could be better, particularly in the bathroom. The location itself is a little offputting with graffiti on nearby walls etc and the amount of steps to get up into the town might prove difficult for some. Parking down by the river once you find your way down there is the nearest - its OK but I did feel a little uneasy about leaving our bike there. Whilst our host was very communicative via messages it would have been nice to have actually met someone at the property as the place and its contents trigger so many questions!

Zeer mooie locatie en een heerlijk ontbijt. Eigenlijk te kort voor één nacht.

Tout était parfait. La literie très confortable, le petit déjeuner excellent. Merci beaucoup Cyril.

Le prix

L accès, l odeur de vieux, la douche avec moisissures et l incompréhension de l offre je pensais avoir pris l offre la plus cher avec le p’tit dej j alors que pour moins cher il y avait le petit dej et plus récent. Dommage le parking et la signalétique tres mauvais
