Mair's

Although, it was a cold night outside, the room was comfortable and warm. I needed to use the wifi for most of the night, and it was immediate and no interruptions. The bed was to my liking and I had a good nights rest. Clean towels were a bonus. Overall, Excellent

It's a lovely house with a great history. Very handy location. Comfortable rooms & friendly hosts. This was our second stay & we were looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, the heating was really intermittent. The room was very cold, I ended up wearing my coat to bed. Neither I nor my partner got a goos sleep. However, I imagine this was an oversight/hiccup. Our first stay was lovely. It's just a shame we had a very cold night.

Disgraceful treatment from the owner on arrival at the guest house. I have never in my entire 63 years been spoken to in such an aggressive, rude, threatening and abusive manor, after literally stepping over the threshold!!! The place is unmanned so guests have to see themselves in whilst being given instructions over the phone by the owner. Apparently we were too noisy on arrival? He had no idea of what was going on, the girls were excited and l was concerned that my daughter would forget the key code so was trying to speak as well to avoid any problems, he completely got the wrong end of the stick and went off on a 5 minute rant about our attitude and what he would do if we so much as raised our voices, he spoke about charging my credit card, and also kicking the girls out. They were not confrontational and did not argue during the rant, to be honest we couldn't get a word in!!! I was absolutely shaking with anger at his outburst, the girls were shaking with fear, and naturally were not happy to stay there, nor was l happy for them to stay. I can't reiterate how bad his attitude and rudeness was, on hindsight l should have rung the police. It totally ruined our Christmas. I picked the girls back up within the hour, they were too afraid to even enter the building let alone their room. That's £150 we will never see again, no point asking for a refund, l have tried to make contact but he is not replying. We were threatened if we wrote a bad reference that he would block us off every social media platform, the man was crazy, l have no idea what powers he thinks he has. I just wish the call had been recorded so you could witness yourself the rudeness of this horrible man, an ex head teacher he told us, l hate to think how he spoke to his pupils! If you tow the line, and don't need to speak to the owner during your stay you should be fine, but God help you if you do step out of line or disagree with him!

I didn't have a hairdryer in room and the password for the WiFi was blanked out so I lent the one from the next room and it was all sticky so I couldn't style my hair properly and I didn't have a city view and i was kept awake by the fire sign on the room door was glowing all night till it became light so I'm wasn't very happy Mrs Cheryl boxer

I would have liked to be given the option of having breakfast. Booking.com advertises it as Mair's B&B!!!!
