Atahu was a lovely one bedroom stay, the view and attention to detail were fantastic.

There wasn’t much room for suitcases etc - so more suited to a weekend away.

I really felt the 'you are a guest in someone's home' atmosphere which made me feel like i couldn't really relax. Particulary as the host came and gave me a list of things i needed to be conscious of: - heat from laptops marking the table - being careful of pulling blinds up so the beads weren't caught on fabric as it pulled the fabric - brining in the outdoor cushions at night (granted this was for my benefit so they weren't wet to sit on) - turning off the fan as soon as the steam had cleared as the noise was heard really loudly in the main house This information was all provided to me within my first half hour of arriving at the property when i was really tired after an early flight to Wellington that morning at 6am and then having been in a long meeting all day. So i was tired and just wanted to be able to come back and relax. Whilst i appreciated it was with a very genuine desire to be a good host and it was said as an 'if its convenient please let me know when you are leaving as i will come and say goodbye', for me personally my preference is to have my own space and to come and go with as little fuss as possible when i am travelling for work.

When we arrived, there is a separate house 48A, at the top of the driveway, that I thought was the rental, but it wasn't, we were at 48, which is at the bottom of the driveway. The property is modern well maintained, and very pleasing to the eye. The owner met us and took us around the back to our private entrance and the view of the ocean, land and beaches is spectacular. We entered the living room and she gave us the key, details about the property, showed us each room and how everything worked, including a wall mounted TV, and WIFI password. The entire back wall, including the bedroom, is glass from floor to ceiling. The living room entrance is a sliding glass door and beside it, an awning type window, for ventilation, and is the same in the bedroom, which leads out to a wooden deck only one step off the ground and is the entire width of the building. Both the living room and bedroom have roll up shades and separate room darkener blinds. The property is modern, with a kitchen, and service for two, including plates, glasses, cups, silverware, table and 4 chairs, appliances including toaster, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and towels, and yes, a kitchen sink.. The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, with plenty of pillows and blankets, nightstands on each side, dressing table with chair and a 3 drawer cabinet, along with a large closet with ample storage space for your luggage and to hang up clothes, and a large shelf for garments. Could use more hangers, as there were only about 6 or 8. Bath room is modern, with a toilet, large shower with wand, great water pressure, and a rack with shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles. Between the toilet and shower, was a towel rack, with oversized towels, (which is very nice since I am a big guy), and they were replaced every other day. Also, the towel rack is heated, there is a switch on the wall to turn on the towel rack if you wish.
