"great place"

10.0

Paula is great, as is the view, the location in the middle of vineries as well as the simple continental breakfast that you do not get at most places. The rooms are nice and there is a shared room.

Aother guest from New York who pretended to have a birthday to get some special treatment but that was already 10 day ago. Communications in the shared room were complex. But that normally does not happen.

"Stay away"

nothing - the old lady who runs this place is rude and kind a "Fawlty Towers" (in the worst possible way). She tends to post abusive and defamatory responses whenever a guest isn't happy. 1 out of 10.

Most annoying issue: no credit cards are accepted! yes. in 2023! Had to drive 30 minutes to the nearest town to take cash (for a $6 fee). Anyone running a hotel, motel or B&B must accept cards. Maybe the owner wants to save a few cents but then, we had to pay the fees, and no one uses cash these days. We stayed at 26 places while in New Zealand and this place is the ONLY one who doesn’t take cards. So we drove to find an ATM. The old lady who runs this place ran after the car, hysterically, suggesting joining us to the ATM (as if we were not going to come back). That was very early. We are marathon runners, and it was way before breakfast. Breakfast is a bit poor and not what you would expect from a B&B. (we had to go to the grocery store to buy plain yogurt and fruits). Update: I read the owner’s false response with a fake message I supposedly sent… sure, a 2-month trip from New York to New Zealand costs tens of thousands USD and it really makes sense to fake an 80th birthday just to get a free birthday card.. :) As for the noise, the owner apologized for it, as these guests took the liberty to have a loud business Zoom call after 10 PM not far from our room, and as runners we wake up before 6 AM. So to us she apologized but after reading our genuine review, she claims there is nothing wrong in such disturbance so late. Well, it is what it is…

"This is a very peaceful, quiet place to stay after a day in rhe vineyards."

9.0

Very friendly host, Paula is lovely, made us feel very welcome. Room is well presented, very comfortable bed, lovrely vista over vineyards and distant mountains.

It was not possuble to leave bi-fold door or windows open due to no screens. A few mozzies about.
