Personal service, pick up from the ferry. Sean took us to the nearby village where we had lunch. Brenda was amazing, took us a different way back to the port to try to see the seals. A nice dinner was available.

My friend and I arrived on Saturday morning, and Sean was already there in his minivan, waiting to welcome us and the other guests. From the very start, his friendliness and attentiveness set the tone for an exceptional stay. The lodge is about 6 km from the main village, and although it is a little off the beaten track, the option to hire a bike made it a delightful and peaceful location. It is also conveniently close to the Worm Hole, which I highly recommend visiting! Sean gave us fantastic advice to help us make the most of our experience on the island. We stayed in a family room, which was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The private bathroom was an added bonus, and the view of the island from our room was simply stunning. The other guests were also very friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The living room is large and cosy, filled with books and comfortable sofas, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There is also space for yoga, both indoors and outdoors, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was varied, with plenty of hot and cold options to choose from. But the moment that truly stayed with me was returning from dinner in the main village to find the common area lit with candles, creating an intimate, immersive atmosphere that perfectly complements the wild beauty of the island and its charming native surroundings. Sean’s hospitality, the lodge’s comfort, and the peaceful, beautiful location make Aran Walkers Lodge an unforgettable place to stay. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

There are a few ways to reach the main village. Cycling at night is not ideal, as the island lacks proper lighting, but perhaps that’s a blessing, as it allows you to enjoy the stars in the clear night sky, especially after a few pints in the village! Transport options are limited (just Sean’s minivan and a taxi), so your schedule might need to align with theirs, although they were more than happy most of the time to accommodate us.

Toilets take a while to fill

Very comfortable spot! We visited in October, and found it to be lovely and pretty walkable. It’s a within walking distance to two restaurants, a fort and the wormhole. Bike rentals at the property are affordable. A bike ride to the pier is 20-30 minutes. Seán is a wonderful host. He’s attentive and cares a lot about his guests having a nice experience. He gave us plenty of great tips and recommendations for places to go. You can tell he cares about his work and the people that stay at the lodge. Rooms are also very comfortable. Definitely recommend!

The only issue we had was that there’s no cell service at the location and the WiFi isn’t very good upstairs. But it’s an easy enough work around.
