The Potting Shed, self contained, detached retreat in Shapwick village

Welcoming and felt homely, the room was quaint English ,comfortably bed and beautiful view of gardens. Hosts were lovely and a pleasure to met🫶

Everything was perfect

Breakfast was excellent, very friendly hosts, lovely view from room.

The hosts Karin & Matthew were SUPER helpful. Such kind gentle hearted people. Their breakfast and the garden setting in which we ate was superb. The food outstanding.

Double bed was a bit too cosy.

Breakfast was beautifully served, in their garden of earthy delight, we loved the flowers, the plants, the pond, the layout. Clearly a lot of hard work had been put in to the planning and execution. We were made most welcome.

It’s rare to stay somewhere that blurs the line between simply being a place to sleep and becoming an experience in itself. Shapwick B&B is an absolute jewel in the most beautiful and quintessentially English county, offering an unrivalled countryside cottage experience. What immediately stood out to us was the authentic English parish village atmosphere. The Potting Shed is wonderfully cosy, immaculately maintained, and beautifully designed with a warm, rustic cottage aesthetic that instantly makes you feel at home. The room overlooks a stunning English country garden, lovingly cared for and set beside an ancient parish church, which only adds to the charm and sense of tranquillity. The entire setting feels timeless and quintessentially English. Matthew was a fantastic host — a true gentleman through and through. His hospitality elevated an already wonderful stay and made the whole experience feel genuinely personal and memorable. The following morning, being northerners, we naturally opted for the Full English breakfast, and it was exquisite. Matthew’s homemade bread was absolutely incredible — we genuinely couldn’t get enough of it. Shapwick B&B is the perfect base from which to explore Somerset, and we genuinely cannot wait to return. Next time, we’ll definitely be staying for a few more nights. See you this time next year
