The Potting Shed, self contained, detached retreat in Shapwick village

Karin and Matthew are great warm and friendly hosts. We enjoyed our stay with them immensely.

An absolute gem of a property hidden away in a charming idyllic village. A beautiful converted property that is modern, immaculately clean and extremely comfortable. Great power shower in the bathroom and bed was very comfortable. Shared with my Daughter for one night and we have loved to stay longer. The owners were both extremely helpful, always checking we were happy and nothing was too much. Great family dogs who were so friendly too. The most amazing breakfast, honestly the best I have encountered in 50 years. I thing the beautiful gardens and the sunny weather added additional brownie points. The gardens are truly amazing full of flora and fauna and created a relaxing and distressing experience just to sit and listen to the beautiful sounds of nature. Also a small fenced pond area which was truly delightful. I could go on and on but feel you should experience this hidden gem for yourself. Just don’t tell too many people or we won’t get another night booked in. Honestly thank you so much for making our stay truly unforgettable before our flight home.

Absolutely nothing , the property is located on a main road through the small village (next to a beautiful church) but we managed to park directly outside so no complaints whatsoever. Thanks again for sharing your amazing property with us.

Excellent, friendly and helpful host. Perfect setting. We had access to the delightful garden where we decided to have breakfast - a perfect start to the day. The breakfast itself was very well prepared and delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

The location is ideal for access to the local nature reserves. The accomodation is very comfortable and private. The breakfast was first class.

The Potting Shed was lovely with a comfortable bed.

The breakfast was a let down. The lack of a choice of cereal, no orange juice and I wasn’t offered a choice about how I like my eggs. I also provided my own decaf coffee… Had I been with my wife we would have needed a bigger duvet.

A cosy room in a beautiful garden with a view over Shapwick Church, in an ideal location to explore the local nature reserves. The owners were very welcoming and provided an exceptional breakfast with homemade bread and organic veg from the garden.
