Blu oceano B&B, Italian restaurant

Our host was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, and prepared with care. Bed and bathroom were very comfortable - air conditioning was a bonus. We also has a private verandah off our room which was lovely for relaxing on during the day. The bnb is close enough to town, cafes, etc, but in a quiet area. Short walk to the beach. Easy motor bike ride to everything.

Wifi was dodgy, however the host is in the process of an upgrade to Starlink which should resolve that. We read books instead! We expected to be able to pay by card, however we had to do a bank transfer - this proved challenging for both parties, and we needed to contact our bank in Australia to facilitate this. Anyway, we got it done. 😎

WiFi is a little bit slow

We stayed for four nights in Blu Oceano B&B and overall had a pleasant stay. Rooms are decent sized, come with air conditioning, mosquito nets, and hot showers in an outside bathroom. Bring mosquito repellent and coils as there are quite a few mosquitos (we were here in August). WiFi is available but it is not the best in terms of speed and reliability. Additionally, the location does not have good signal with Telkomsel. Breakfast is included in the room rate, with the choice of pancakes or eggs. The preparation time is rather extended (~45 mins) and the times it's available seem very arbitrary. The accommodation is attached to an Italian restaurant and there are a total of two rooms. Would definitely recommend taking the room facing the garden (called the East room) as it provides more privacy. The whole place has a nice rustic and laid back vibe, plenty of space to lounge around in, and you will fall asleep and wake up to the sound of reggae music. The property is located very close to Nemberala beach, which was super convenient. A taxi from the fast ferry port, Ba'a, costs 350k, and hire of Honda Beat scooter is 75k (plus strangely a 5% service charge). Local Bemo transport from the port was quoted at 75k per person as a foreigner. We ate in the restaurant and found the food to be very tasty, it is on the slightly pricier side but that's because the ingredients have been imported. The staff were very friendly and in general we found the owner to be helpful. Overall, the accommodation offered is decent value for money.
