Children loved the interaction with all the animals. Scott,the host was awesome and the little details were great.

The quiet surroundings

This place has a checkout time of 10. o'clock and a checkin in time at 4.00. My wife and I were driving from Nelson through a lot of area which didn't have WIfi reception. Realising we were going to be early I sent a message via Booking.com to say we looked like arriving between 3.00 and 4.00. I did not see the owners denial of this amended checkin time. And so when we got there we saw that the door to the house was open and the door to the apartment was also open . We saw aa "welcome" note so we went in and unpacked our luggage. Soon after the owner came in and started abusing us for not respecting his check in time . There are ways and means of getting a message across and we did not take kindly to his method of doing so. He could have said to us "sorry the room is not ready, you can leave your baggage here and come back after 4.00." No, he reiterated his message over and over saying we did not respect his later check in time . I need to make the point that the time between checkout and check in is 6. hours . So feeling uncomfortable we left to go into Greymouth and at the time we decided we didn't want to go back and stay there. I was willing to forfeit my $150 Australian and we then looked for alternative accommodation in Greymouth and when we found it we went back to the farm . I was so frustrated at his reaction and continuing bad will. When I went to the car to get my credit card to pay him he started taking pictures of the number plate and I got the impression he thought I was going to do a runner which was never our intention. We parted with my wife and I retaining our dignity even though I suggested at some stage that he "stop talking". Mea culpa .

Wonderful experience, we were like little kids going around feeding and patting all the animals. The room was very comfortable and the eggs and freshly backed bread loaf supplied in the morning was a great idea and treat. Family run, big thank you to them for allowing others to share there home. We went down to the Dunollie Hotel for dinner, highly recommend the food, drinks and company. Big shout out to the locals who welcomed us and made for a fun night.

Bathroom was located across from the room, needed to take a torch to see at night as there were some steps. Not really a big issue though.
