Ha Giang Safari Hostel & Tour

The staff is very helpful and friendly, they facilitate everything on their power to make you feel welcome. I also did the Ha Giang loop tour for 2D1N and my rider Tuang was a very good driver, very experienced and a bit of daredevil, so if you are into tourism adventure you will definitely have fun riding with him, full of adrenaline! Also my group leader Hoan was very friendly and gave us a tour and intro in English of the places we visited, very good English speaker and listened to all our requests. I recommend both drivers.

The hostel facilities are ok for the price, beds are a bit uncomfortable and the keys from lockers can open more than one locker. Apart from that all good. Also the Homestay in Don vang has beautiful views but the beds are mattress in the floor and since it is deep in nature. There were some bugs and I got an allergic reaction ( nothing serious but I'm not allergic normally to anything). Also make sure to check if you have a private room or a dorm in the Homestay, I got the wrong impression that I was supposed to have a private room but ended up sleeping in a communal room. Avoid nuances.

Everything was perfect! We did the loop with them and it was amazing. Best experience to do in Vietnam! The drivers are so cool and kind!

The room was big and nice

The address was wrong on booking and they didn’t tell us that so we arrived to the wrong location and then someone there told us the new address that was 10 minutes walk from there. Was very upsetting because we were with big baggage and took a taxi especially for it. We arrived in 11pm and we found out that our room was not clean!! So we needed to wait an half hour for them to clean our room. Overall very bad experience but the room was big and nice .

The hostel is good situated.

The room was directly on the Main Street in Ha Giang. We had a big hole in the door of the balcony, so it was very noisy. The bathroom wasn’t as clean as expected and very wet when we arrived.

About the hostel: The best thing about it is Tao, the hostel manager - she is super helpful and has wonderful communication skills. But there is just so much one person can do. About the Safari Loop Tour: The price was very affordable, I enjoyed the option to get a private room for just 50K more per night, and the food was good. I'm glad we made it back in one piece

I did not feel safe enough during the tour. My first impression was terrible - we had no debriefing before starting the tour, nobody talked to us about safety or itinerary or anything - we were told to put on helmets and then we just left. I had trouble fitting mine above my wool hat but nobody helped me. 10 minutes into starting the ride one of the easy-riders needed to be replaced with no explanation. The girl he was driving said she had the impression he was hung-over since he bumped into someone shortly after they started riding. That of course made me even more anxious than I was. Unfortunately throughout the trip, communication and organization were poor. Some of the driving felt reckless and too fast. On the last day one of the easy riders and his passenger had a minor accident - fortunately nothing serious happened to them, but it was frightening. It seemed some of the easy-riders were too young and inexperienced. However, I must say - they were incredibly kind and sweet so I appreciate them on a personal level. My personal easy-rider was the best of them. The motorcycles also did not seem high quality - All the speed meters (and some of the mirrors) were broken, and there was not enough shock absorption and padding. My body ached at the end of the trip. I had the impression that other tours were better - they had uniforms, I heard them communicate better, better itineraries and some of them had better protective gear also. The accommodations for the tour were not great, especially due to lack of heating in freezing weather. The Safari hostel itself was disappointing - the bed in the dorm was so uncomfortable I could not sleep, and the sheets did not look clean. The private room was a bit better but very noisy and poor shower. I chose this tour because I wanted a non-party tour with a small group size that was within my budget.

The Safari Hostel offers one of the most affordable options for the Ha Giang Loop, which is a great deal for budget travelers. A notable perk is that if you book the loop tour with them, you can stay at their hostel for free—a nice bonus. However, during our stay, we observed some issues with cleanliness. As we were taking a later bus to Dong Van, we had the chance to see the cleaning process. The staff member responsible for preparing the rooms did not appear to change the sheets fully. Instead, she brushed the sheets with a mop-like tool and only stripped the pillowcases, while the quilts were taken out and seemingly returned without being replaced. While the hostel provides a decent base for the Ha Giang Loop and is budget-friendly, cleanliness might be a concern for some travelers. If you're comfortable with potentially reused bedding, this could still be a good option for the price and the experience they offer.

We didn’t stay at the hostel but we did go on the 4 day Ha Giang Loop with the Safari crew led by Nam, a young, capable, fun man. We rode with amazing, confident easy riders. It definitely was a highlight of my entire life. I highly recommend this company. Small tour groups, awesome homestays, it was incredible. Thank you!
