Misty Paradise of Lake Gregory

The location was very nice and overlooked Lake Gregory and was a short walk away from the bus stop. The host was very nice and kind.

We stayed at Misty Paradise for two nights. The hotel is in a nice elevated location that gives a panoramic view of Lake Gregory, and at the same time it is easily accessible. The rooms are clean and cosy. The owner, Dr. Dharma, is extremely welcoming and available in assisting us for every need. We felt right at home. Definitely recommended!

This is massively overpriced. We paid $75 per night and it was worst of the 12 places we stayed in Sri Lanka. The hotel needs a total refurbishment. Your first experience is of construction works as the host is building his villa in front of the hotel. Everywhere felt cold, damp and grimy. The bathroom smelt badly of mildew. The furniture and curtains were covered in stains and mildew. The bedding and all our clothes always felt clammy. The host said it was the weather but we visited other places in the town and none of them had the same problem. The breakfast felt very cheap; cheapest quality bread, synthetic jam, dishwater coffee; small, rubbery omelette, synthetic sausages. When we asked for some fresh fruit we were given orange cordial as ‘fresh orange juice’, we were told there was no fresh fruit, even though we’d seen a lot in the market here. The staff were kind and helpful but seemed rather brow-beaten by the boss. Another guest cancelled his second night; I wish we had too but we were concerned about the cancellation fees. I’m very sad to leave such a review. We’ve been writing 5-star reviews all over Sri Lanka and staying in many wonderful places. Overall it’s been a very special experience.

Our host Dr. Dharma was very lively and guided us on how to best enjoy Nuwara Eliya. His recommendation for Moon Plains was fabulous, given that we decided to give Horton Plains a skip. The breakfast and barbeque arranged by Mr. Chaminda were awesome. The rooms were cosy and the kids loved the bunked beds. The view of Gregory Lake was fabulous. Also Dr. Dharma arranged for Tuktuk. The 'Driver Uncle' of Tuktuk was our personal guide and gave us our time.to explore all places at our pace. Highly recommended for a couple of days in hill and tea plantation state.

The breakfast was excellent. Staff is very approachable. The view is out of this world. The destination is really a paradise.

Host Mr. Subash is very welcoming person. Made us feel at home. Also shared good chatter with him. Overall great view and very good experience.

Taking car/van till end is not possible. But host will take care of luggage for you.

The view from the room is amazing. Relaxing. The breakfast was just okay.

So far good. Looking forward for the rooftop rose garden on our next stay.
